Elena Hadjiafxendi is a noted performer of vintage world music. Featuring contemporary remakes of classic songs from the 1920s and 1960s by Danae Stratigopoulou, Sofia Vembo, Flery Dadonaki Edith Piaf, among others, this stimulating event offers homage to Greek and European tango, bolero, waltz, foxtrot and rumba as well as to the lesser known Greek «jazz» of the inter-war period. Melodies from Greek composers like Kostas Giannidis, Attik, Manos Hadjidakis, Mikis Theodorakis create an atmosphere of nostalgia and sensuality Elena is joined by top class musicians Michael Iskas and Andreas Papapetrou from the World music scene to reinterpret this transnational genre for a new audience and bring to life notes of beauty and longing dangerously mixed together in narratives about love, dreams and desire.
